The design of the ships in Guardians of the Galaxy were so colourful and unique they really popped off the screen and into your imagination. When the Dark Aster first appears it’s a stark contrast with it’s massive and menacing presence and you know one thing immeadiately, this is the villain’s ship.
Michael Steindl has done an excellent job at capturing the shaping of this undulating mass of evil. Built at 108 studs length for the upcoming SHIPtember, Michael used almost 7000 pieces to recreate this beast. I’d love to get a closer look at it so I could pour over some of the details, but photographing something this big and monochromatic is no easy task. Head over to his Flickr to see some WIP photos and tons of other great ships.
